the M3 does not perform sample rate conversion, and the way Roon is displaying it is misleading. To be more clear here is a brief explanation of how the PCM converter works in the M3.
For PCM conversion we use a sigma delta converter from Analog Devices, the AD1955. This device was chosen as it allows us to make the reconstruction filters external in our DSP, these are commonly called "oversampling" or the anti-aliasing filters and they are essential to how the converter works and the best reconstruction of the waveform. This filter its calculated at the 8 x higher rate, why you see 352.8 displayed (oversampled), and is done for better filter interpolation, these are the filters you have in the M3 to choose between, linear and minimum. Since we are doing it as an external process to the DAC chip, then Roon wants to report it that way, but how this is reported is misleading and unnecessary as its not an add on effect or extra process, it is essential to the operation of the converter. So be assured that we are not processing the signal other than to make the best PCM converter we can, and this part of the conversion process and not a gimmick.

Hi madfloyd,

My Signal Path is still Lossless. Bricasti plays native, no upsampling. Could you show us your Roon DSP picture, like this:

the difference is because airman's m3 is not updated to the full roon release, which requires a new streamer upgrade and upgrade to the M3 processor. in this release and certification they "required" us to report to the roon app about our filters, if not updated the M3 works fine but that information is not reported to the app so it does not appear in roon. none of this changes how the M3 or any of our products work, just how its displayed in roon.

Hi,

Are there any new updates on Roon certification for the M21? Is it currently in progress?

Thanks

we have yet to submit the M21 to roon, we just completed the M3 and that was a lot of work and took a lot longer than we expected, roon made a lot of changes since we last did the M12 and M1 and caused unexpected work. However we do plan to schedule time with them for the M21, but it also requires that we "give" them an M21 that they dont give back so that needs to be scheduled as well. Meanwhile some of our M21 users are on a beta program and are using the M21 with a streamer version that will function with roon.

Where can I download the streamer version you mention that works with Roon?

Thanks
